UKUPC Conference Concept, Exeter
Overview: Interior Design and Consultation for Student Amenity Space and Bedroom
Nelson and Long were invited to collaborate with a partner supplier and acted as consultants to present a sustainable concept for a small in footprint social space and student bedroom at the UKUPC Conference. The team worked on this concept for months prior, curating design-led, balanced and unique spaces that engaged the participants of the conference.
Sustainability, neurodiversity and community were the main focus when designing these holistic and colourful spaces that would help uplift and ignite connection among the students.
Our contribution to the project brought a more rounded expertise and enabled our partner supplier to attract a new audience.

Social Space
Taking a small social space footprint, we created a colourful and inspired room for students to socialise, study and relax in. Zoning the space with feature flooring and lighting, and the addition of multifunctional furniture, allows the flexibility to cater for varying activities and events. This concept design illustrates how a design led interior can be achieved on a budget resulting in an aspirational, inclusive destination space to encourage student wellbeing and foster a sense of community.

Bedroom
This concept design looks at how, with careful, considered design choices, a student bedroom on a budget can be elevated to create an inspiring and creative space. Longevity and sustainability were the key focus in this design. We wanted to explore the possibility of elevating a typical room into a design led space to enhance student wellbeing. A creative use of colour coupled with a choice selection of finishes adds personality, texture and depth to this room.
